Wellington Schools

Education of local youth is the responsibility of the Wellington Exempted Village School District. The district operates three school buildings and an athletic complex. The official site of Wellington Schools is found here.

Westwood Elementary (305 Union Street) is home to all students in kindergarten through third grade. The original building was built in 1960 with an addition added a few years later. The school was renovated in 2000-2001 and a new office complex, media center, and gymnasium were added along with several new classrooms. Westood can be reached by phone at (440) 647-3636.

McCormick Middle School (201 South Main Street) works with fourth through eighth grades. The building is "divided" in two with one side taking the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades and the opposite side taking the seventh and eighth grades. Portions of the building date back to the 1860s with later additions in 1916, the 1930s, and again in the 1950s. Renovations have taken place in recent years to bring the building up-to-date with full computer networking and other technological advances as well as handicap accessibility. The middle school can be reached by phone at (440) 647-2342.

Wellington High School (629 North Main Street) is the home of the Dukes! Ninth through twelfth grades take classes here. Students have the opportunity to take all basic classes as well as French and Spanish, drama, advanced history classes, vocational agriculture, band, choir, and art classes. Students can participate in a multitude of clubs or participate in extracurricular activities. WHS can be reached by phone at (440) 647-3734.
