Wellington Organizations

There are dozens of community organizations throughout Wellington that are dedicated to community betterment and other fine causes.

Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts provide fun and extended learning to the children of Wellington.

Lake Shore Railway Association is a group of local folks who are attempting to restore a short rail spur connecting Wellington and Lorain via Oberlin, Elyria, and Amherst. More information on this line can be found on the history page.

Kiwanis is a social group that helps to raise funds for other local groups.

Main Street Wellington, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) corporation that was formed in 1998. Main Street Wellington is a certified Ohio Main Street Program and a National Main Street Community. This organization follows the four principles of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Main Street Program. The organization consists of business owners, property owners, professionals, and other individuals committed to revitalizing our historic downtown while preserving its unique character. Any measures taken to improve this core area of the community will in turn benefit the other businesses and industries in town through increased traffic and visibility, an improved local economy and better quality of life for all residents of Wellington.

Masons, Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion are all very active in the community. These groups not only run their clubs, but also often organize local events such as parades or military education events.

Wellington Baseball Federation organizes games for kids of all ages.

Wellington Chamber of Commerce is a group of local business owners and individuals who work together to promote community activities such as the Fourth of July celebration.

Wellington Schools Endowment Fund was started by former school superintendent James McGlamery. The Endowment donates funds to school groups and offers assistance to some college-bound students.

Wellington Soccer Federation organizes soccer teams and games for kids of all ages.

Wellington Women's League is a social group that helps local organizations and groups by raising money for special events.
